CHUH School district:
We pay more - we get less!
We are a group of concerned citizens who live in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District who demand efficacy in how this District uses our tax dollars. CHUH financially outperforms all other Ohio School Districts in the following categories, based on the ODE Expanded FY14 List: - Revenue it receives. - Money it spends - unlike other school districts, CHUH spends almost as much as it brings in. - Money spent on administrative costs (2.4 times as the state average) Data provided by District Treasurer, Scott Gainer, indicates that the District expends about $15 million in administration costs annually that are not related to general or school administration. Just were is that money going? We are awaiting a response from Mr. Gainer. - Employs more teachers than comparably sized districts - Spends more on classroom expenses - in top 1%! So why does it need MORE? CHUH ranks at the bottom in the following category: Performance - ranks 578 out of 610 other Ohio school districts The claims by the District about having an "A" Progress rating appears to be inaccurate. Our cursory review of the testing data seems to show that the only elementary schools tested for this rating were the already-high-performing schools of Roxboro and Fairfax. So, if true, those test results would not truly reflect the Progress of all students in the District since it appears to exclude Boulevard, Canterbury, Noble or Oxford. Flyers and Mailers for our May 2015 efforts!
